Matthew Crotty, RMT

Being raised in a family of health care workers, Matt developed an interest in health. As a child Matt was athletic in track, baseball, and soccer. As an adult, he enjoys martial arts, biking, kayaking and Pilates. Over the many years of practice, since completing the 3000 hour Registered Massage Therapist, in 2007, Matt has enjoyed developing his Massage Therapy practice in many different venues throughout Victoria, BC.

Matt has spent years in both relaxation massage and therapeutic massage settings, including at award winning spas, such as Le Spa Serene and the Willow Stream Spa. He has also developed his practice in multi-disciplinary clinics such as Cloverdale Chiropractic, and Shelbourne Physiotherapy before cofounding Victoria Massage Therapy in 2012.

Currently, Matt is continuing his development of skills and knowledge in both intuitive and evidence-based therapeutic manual and remedial exercise techniques. Matt is working towards a Diploma of Manual Osteopathy at the Canadian School of Osteopathy Manual Practice .

Matt has allied his practice with other therapists at Superior Integrated Care since 2016 and values the relationships and interactive approach to treatments it provides. Matt has enjoyed exposure to breathwork sessions on Salt Spring Island with Breathe with Blythe and Althetia Breathwork and was impressed with its personal effects on him.

Matt’s goal in Massage Therapy is always to provide a healing space in treatment, and to aid in allowing the body to express its own health. Working to treat the body in a global, regional and local context to address the cause and the symptoms of discomfort or dysregulation. Matt is always impressed with people’s ability to help each other with well-intentioned touch and knowledge and with the aid of professional skill and technique.

Matt is very grateful to have found both a calling and a profession in Registered Massage Therapy and Health Care in his hometown of Victoria, BC.
